Forethought 2010 log
This is now the story of
year 14 of owning a
GK24. It has started slowly as I have spent 7 weeks out of the
country on business so far this year. I managed to miss most of the
snow in January.
I entered the Royal Southampton Frostbite series but only managed
one race and missed two other weekends as too tired to take part. Two
further weekends I was in Angola or Azerbijan followed by a trip to Borneo.
The
main notable
problem this year was a large lump of orange string which was around
the prop, affecting forward speed slightly and astern almost
completely. This had got round the propellor in September 2009 but I had run
out of time to do anything about it.
And
then by the time I got back to the UK for sailing in May, the
antifouling had totally given up working and the hull was covered in
weed. So I decided to go for Hard Racing antifoul : three days hard
labour stripping and painting and the boat has one coat of primer and 3
coats of Hempel dark blue hard racing antifouling.
Round the Island 2010
The only thing that has failed and not been repaired is the topping
lift has stayed jammed in the block at the top of the mast - I havent
got round to fixing it as it happens to be stuck in about the right
place.
November 2010 - back from the fourth trip overseas this time to West
Papua, and the sailing year is over. Now back to RIB duty on the
Hamble Winter Series.
Forethought has a layer of slime on the bottom so I will have to go to the scrubbing piles before the RSYC Frostbite 2011
