Forethought 2001 log

Jan 2001 Two days after I have just pressure washed off the hull and the decks of Forethought. I am approached by Sailing Today via the Westerly Owners Association to assist with an article on the GK24. Apparently I am the only member of the WOA mad enough to keep a GK24 in the water over the winter. On the 10th of January, the sun shines and the wind blows at 10 knots. It is warm and the photographer thinks the pictures will make it to the front cover.

Sail in the Royal Southampton YC Frostbite series with indifferent results. For some reason the race organisers see fit to put us in the same class as a 43 foot boat, with a handicap only a few percent different. Its all in the Sailing Instructions, where the word 'capricious' appears in connection with 'rating'... The 43 footer always wins.

Feb 2001 : Forethought appears in Sailing Today, all over the magazine, including the front cover. Later on I buy the Solent Yearbook and I find that the particular issue's front cover is used in the advertisement for Sailing Today

March 2001 :

May 2001:

Went to a boat jumble at the old HMS Osprey site, on the day before Beaulieu. Found someone selling Origo spirit cookers at £50-00 each
