Head Lining

This will be rotten if it has become wet in the past, or it is original. Forethoughts has rotted where it goes down to the berths, and water has wicked up.  Replacement headlining also falls off.

Condensation

If you do not use headlining then condensation becomes an issue. For this use either headlining or a heater.

In the fore cabin where my children currently sleep I have had to do a total headlining job, including gluing 3mm cork tiles to the hull before gluing on the headlining in an effort to make the space warmer.

I also have a small tarpaulin over the fore hatch which also tends to stop condensation on the hatch. All that is left is the foot ends of the quarter berths where condensation makes your sleeping bag wet.

Home fit-out (style problems)

These boats could be bought for home finishing : not all people have the same tastes.
You also have to forgive those owners,  as they were mostly living in the 1970s when they fitted out the boats originally.

Look out for DIY interior fit-out that is strange - a GK24 belonging to a friend had orange fake fur as head lining.

(Head lining kits still cost under 200 pounds)

Also that there can be unusual but logical installations of engines that make the headroom coming up from below much smaller than on other Westerly finished boats. (the companionway steps are less steep than on Forethought)
